Being an Overachiever Day 6: Summing It Up
For God alone my soul waits in silence; from him comes my salvation. (Psalm 62:1, ESV)
Hopefully, I’m not the only person feeling convicted by the end of this study. I’ve been an overachiever from the very beginning, and I still battle with this in the corporate role I fill. God has given us a free will, and each of us has a choice in deciding how we will face (and hopefully overcome) this struggle. We can choose to ignore it, but that will only dig us deeper into a hole of stress and anxiety. I encourage you to bring whatever you are facing today before the Lord. He already knows exactly what you are facing and He longs for you to come to Him.
I also encourage you to spend time in rest. It is so refreshing for the soul if you are able to get away and just relax. If it’s not possible for you to travel, I encourage you to drive around, even if it’s just a few hours on a weekend, and spend some quiet time with Him. Don’t allow yourself to get or stay on the slippery slope of being too busy; breathe—and remind others around you to do the same. I pray that each of us will remember that we are not defined by what we do but by who we are in Christ. As Christians, God sees us as His own redeemed people. What a wonderful truth!
