Breaking Bad Habits Day 6: Weekly Thoughts

No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it. (1 Corinthians 10:13, ESV)

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (1 John 1:9, ESV)

As we have looked at breaking bad habits over the last week, we understand the importance of battling temptations in our lives. We know that we will be tempted in various ways in our daily lives, but we have a responsibility to not succumb. This week, we have covered gossip, profanity, ego trips, jealousy, and lust, but we know there are many others that we can struggle with.

If we’re going to break bad habits, we will need to take advantage of the resources we have been given. We have been given help from the Lord, the Holy Spirit, and the comfort and wisdom of our fellow believers. We are four months removed from the beginning of the year, but there is no better time to start the process of breaking bad habits than today. Let us strive to learn from the mistakes of the past and use them to our advantage when temptation comes again.
