Devotional Thoughts for the Day 8: Limitless

“Now to him who is able to do above and beyond all that we ask or think…” (Ephesians 3:20a, CSB)

We are humans, so we have our limitations, don’t we? These limitations can really frustrate us sometimes. Setting out to accomplish a task can be very challenging at times, and I know for me, I have a lot more patience with people than I do with tasks. Putting together a coffee table recently caused me to actually yell loudly at it in frustration—as if it changed anything!

But our limitations are an invitation for God to be the help we need with whatever it is before us. Rather than get frustrated and overwhelmed, why not pray for the needed help and allow Him to empower us to do what we need to get done? We may not think God cares about a silly coffee table, but I do know that He cares about me!

Having the help of His Spirit has enabled me to do some really challenging things in life. But sometimes I forget to go to Him with my need and instead flounder and struggle and yell at inanimate objects! He doesn’t just give us what we need; He goes “above and beyond.” What a gracious Father He is!

The next time your limitations frustrate you, take them to the Father and ask Him to supply the needed help to finish the task. We can trust that He longs to be our Helper—it’s part of who He is! We know He’s able to turn our limitations into victories, so sit back, take a deep breath, and invite Him into those frustrating, impossible moments.
