Foundations of Our Faith Day 13: Weekly Thoughts

Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. (Hebrews 11:1, ESV)

For the past two weeks, we’ve been looking at the foundations of our faith as seen in the last weeks of Jesus’ time here on earth. From the time He entered Jerusalem to the day He ascended back to the Father in heaven, the truth of the gospel message was faithfully lived out and perfectly displayed. His whole purpose for coming into the world was to save people from their sins; He came to be our Redeemer and Savior.

If you have trusted Him as Savior, then these events mean everything to you. Without His coming, dying and resurrection, we would be without hope. Because of what is recorded for us in Scripture from eyewitnesses to the events, we have confidence that Jesus is everything He claimed to be. His Word is accurate and He Himself trustworthy.

If you have not accepted Jesus as your Savior, we pray that the gospel message will work its way from the pages of Scripture into the deepest places of your heart. This Good News message is the best news there is—nothing else is more important!

The overarching theme of the gospel is that God is love. His love led Him to leave the splendor of heaven and put on flesh so that He might rescue the lost and hurting. Love is the true reason for all that the Lord Jesus endured for us. Today, let us thank Him for willingly coming to accomplish the work of salvation, being obedient to all that the Father required so that we might be free forever.
