Key Habits for Sunday Readiness Day 6 – Weekly Truth
And he took a cup, and when he had given thanks he said, “Take this, and divide it among yourselves. For I tell you that from now on I will not drink of the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of God comes.” And he took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.” And likewise the cup after they had eaten, saying, “This cup that is poured out for you is the new covenant in my blood.” (Luke 22:17-20, ESV)
As we have looked for the past week at preparing ourselves for Sunday morning, we understand the importance of making sure that we actively pursue this goal. We know that we will be faced with many opportunities to be distracted and thus show up Sunday morning unprepared, but it should be our desire to spend time and put in effort to read, pray, study, and meditate on Him so that we can come with fresh appreciation of our Savior.
If we’re going to start good habits, we will need to be mindful in our approach. Whether it’s putting the phone in the other room, setting aside time at certain times of the day, or making sure we get ourselves back in gear when we zone out, let us strive to not just check a box every week, but have the desire to arrive at the gathering already prepared. This will result in blessing to ourselves and fellow believers and, more importantly, in glory being brought to the Savior.
