“The Narrow Way”

Written by Steffany Gretzinger & Jason Ingram

Performed by Steffany Gretzinger

Released 2023

Lead me, Lord lead me
Keep me, oh keep me
From wandering
Help me, Lord help me
Teach me, oh teach me
Your suffering

I will walk the narrow way
The only road that will lead to life
I will stay the narrow way
To see the face of the One I love

There is nothing in this life
Worth the cost of losing You
Is it even sacrifice
If I trade the world for You
You’re the Treasure
You’re the Prize
Jesus, only You
Only You

As we think about living an effective life for Christ, the idea of walking the narrow way comes into focus. The way we live, the truths we protect, and the things we say might be very unpopular. But that’s what Jesus said the road to Heaven would be like—narrow, with few finding it (Matthew 7). I believe this song brings out this truth in a very captivating way. I especially enjoy the bridge, even if it makes me shrink inside of myself. There truly is nothing valuable enough in this life that’s worth the cost of losing our soul or trading our life with Christ. Even if we trade the world, is it even a sacrifice when we compare it to His worth? This song is a beautiful marriage of the truths of Matthew 7 and Mark 8:36-37. Give it five minutes of your time, and I think you’ll be glad you did.
