I don’t want to be known for what I hate
I don’t want to miss the things that make Your heart break
I don’t want to say things you’d never say
Come have Your way in me

Let justice roll like a river in my soul
Let mercy overflow like a flood
Let kindness burn like a fire in my bones
That lights the way back home for all to come
I wanna be known by love
Known by love

Come and help me see the way you see
Come and show me how to be your hands and feet
I want to be the friend that You would be
Come have Your way in me

I wanna be known by love
Known by love
In my heart
In my mind
Send a revival
In my world
In my life
Send a revival

Let justice roll like a river in my soul
Let mercy overflow like a flood
Let kindness burn like a fire in my bones
That lights the way back home back to you
I wanna be known by love

Chris McClarney came out of the blue for me. I remember one of my friends in Pennsylvania sharing one of his songs on FaceBook (the excellent “Speak to the Mountains”). It’s pretty rare for me to not have even heard of a Christian artist, but that was the case. I loved his voice, loved that song, and listened to the rest of the album. This particular song stood out the most to me. How do we want to be known by the world around us? If our reputation could be boiled down to one word, one adjective, or one verb, what would it be? Wouldn’t it be great if the word “love” was the first word that came to mind! That’s what this song is all about—being known by the extent to which we love others.
