Living Effectively for Christ Day 6 – A Song for Our Saturday (“Any More”)

“Any More” by Cain

You got a voice in your head, the same old guilt and regret
You heard a thousand times before
After the choices you made
You’re waiting for me to say, I couldn’t love you anymore

The enemy has lied to you
But listen to me, here’s the truth

I couldn’t love you any more than I do right now
There’s nowhere I wouldn’t go to get to you, my child
Take a look at the cross, then you’ll know it for sure
I couldn’t love you, I couldn’t love you any more
Any more, any more than I do right now
Any more, any more

When the sin and the shame try to lock you away
My grace is breaking down the door
Yeah
You’re the one that I’m running after
You’re mine and you matter
Your life’s worth dying for

I couldn’t love you any more than I do right now
There’s nowhere I wouldn’t go to get to you, my child
Take a look at the cross, then you’ll know it for sure
I couldn’t love you, I couldn’t love you any more
Any more, any more than I do right now
Any more, any more

The past doesn’t own you anymore
The grave doesn’t hold you anymore
Yeah
I say that you’re worth dying for
And I couldn’t love you any more

I recently heard this song on the recommendation of a good friend, and I am still loving it! I highly recommend giving it a listen; not only is the message wonderful, but the sound is incredible too. I know it’s hard to encapsulate how far-reaching and never-ending God’s love is, but I think this song does a good job of portraying it.

Oftentimes, we think that as long as we are checking off all the boxes and doing the right things we will have God’s favor and He will love us more. In our society, love is often conditional because as humans we are all imperfect. God’s love, however, is unconditional. His love for you and me today is the same as it has always been—never more and never less. It never depends on what we do or what we don’t do for Him. I pray that you’ve experienced His love on a personal level, that you have accepted His Son as your Savior through the work that He did on the Cross to pay for your sins. If you accept Him today, this song will bring a smile to your face because of the peace and joy you will have through Him.
