Male Insecurities Day 6: Security in Christ

When we stop and consider our insecurities, it’s very comforting to focus on the security we have in Christ. First, our rescue is secure; second, our salvation is secure:

“I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of My hand” (John 10:28, ESV).

Jesus says we will never perish. We will never be judged for sin He has forgiven, and will never face God as our Judge. When we feel insecurities bubbling up within us and fear the judgment of people, let’s remember that the Holy Judge is the only Judge that truly matters. And He has forgiven us! And beyond that, our salvation and eternal blessing are secure. Jesus gave us the tremendous gift of eternal life, and it isn’t a gift He’ll take back from us. We’ll never lose it nor will we ever exhaust it. It’s a promise He made, so we’re on solid ground in knowing it is forever secure. And so, as we think of all we wish we could have in this life, we tend to overlook all we have in the life to come. Finally, the love of Christ for us is secure:

[Nothing]…”will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 8:39b, ESV).

Paul enumerates many things that can separate us from other people; at the top of the list is death. It absolutely separates us for a time from our loved ones. Distance can separate us from others, too. But when it comes to the love of Christ, it’s impossible for us to be separated from it. And so, as we wrestle with the approval, love, and acceptance of others, we already have security in the love of our Savior. What a great God we serve!
