Meet Our Team Day 7: Madeline McDonald, Writer, Social Media
My name is Maddie McDonald and I’m from Denver, North Carolina (no, not Colorado, like most people ask). I love living in a small town, but it might be even better if we had a Starbucks right down the road. I have one older sibling, two wonderful parents, and two dogs (almost said siblings because we treat them like royalty).
I work at a financial planning company in SouthPark, which is in south Charlotte. I work on the investment team as a trading analyst. I’m so thankful for the people I work with. I love what I do, and the fact that every day can look different keeps me on my toes.
I was saved at age 17. I never had to be told I was a sinner—I knew that without a doubt. Ever since I was a kid, I was terrified of the Rapture; the thought of being left behind without my family sometimes kept me awake at night. When I was younger, out of pride I had told people I was a Christian—I did not want them to think I wasn’t one. But peace was absent from my life. I experienced a few things that really scared me: someone I knew, who was my age, died; I was involved in a car accident (though thankfully no one was hurt). Also, at a sleepover one time I thought the Rapture had occurred and I was left behind. I couldn’t take it anymore—I cried out to the Lord in my frustration and fear, realizing there was nothing I could DO to be saved; all was completed by Jesus Christ. All those years of trying had gotten me nowhere. I’m so thankful He loved me and gave His life for me so that I could be with Him in Heaven for eternity! My favorite Bible verse is Ephesians 3:20: “Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us…”
My favorite hobby is to spend time reading. I just love getting all comfortable on the couch with a blanket, a good cup of coffee, and a good book, especially when it’s one I can’t put down (and I end up staying up very late to finish it!). My dream destination would be Santorini, Greece! I just think it’s so beautiful, and I’ve dreamed of going ever since I saw the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants (anyone else?). Maybe a girls’ trip needs to happen!
I came to Vine to Branches because I have a passion for reading and writing. What better way to be able to contribute in the areas I love? It was also founded by my fabulous mom and I wanted to support her by helping. It’s an honor to think that the Lord can use our words to speak to others!
