Mindfulness Day 7: Sunday Selah

Now as they went on their way, Jesus entered a village. And a woman named Martha welcomed him into her house. And she had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet and listened to his teaching. But Martha was distracted with much serving. And she went up to him and said, “Lord, do you not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Tell her then to help me.” But the Lord answered her, “Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things, but one thing is necessary. Mary has chosen the good portion, which will not be taken away from her.” (Luke 10:38-42, ESV)

What is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of man that you care for him? (Psalm 8:4, ESV)

As we made our way through this study about mindfulness and being present, we can appreciate the faithfulness shown by the Lord throughout His life. Through temptations and the trials of life, the Lord Jesus always had His focus on the work that He was sent to complete. As we work to be more physically and mentally present in our lives, we would pray for His guidance and help, seeking to become more Christlike every day, that we might bring honor and glory to His name.

As we worship today, may we think of these words from a well-known hymn:

Turn your eyes upon Jesus
Look full in His wonderful face,
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim,
In the light of His glory and grace.

–Helen Howarth Lemmel (1863–1961)
