Mornings with Maddie Day 4 – Logic
“Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world. By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you heard was coming and now is in the world already. Little children, you are from God and have overcome them, for he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. … We are from God. Whoever knows God listens to us; whoever is not from God does not listen to us. By this we know the Spirit of truth and the spirit of error. … Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love. In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him. In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. … There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love.” (1 John 4:1-4,6,8-11,18-19, ESV)
This passage in 1 John is such a good one for logic! I love how it follows so logically, with no conclusions or statements without supporting evidence. It’s a very powerful message!
People who don’t accept our views that are rooted in the truth of the Word of God don’t know the truth themselves and have not accepted Christ nor do they understand who He truly is. It seems the longer I live, the more I see our Christian ideals being attacked and people believing empty lies.
One issue lately that particularly bothers me is parents allowing their children to transition gender at young ages, and doctors willing to perform these transitions. These children’s brains are not fully developed, and they’re not mature enough to understand the lifelong consequences of altering the bodies given to them by God.
Many people are afraid to stand up for the truth, afraid of being canceled for their beliefs. There is so much false information, and even some churches are guilty of false teaching. Even as believers we have become afraid to stand out against abortion, transgenderism, and marriage that is not according to the truth of God’s Word.
As our society continues to morally decay, may we seek to peacefully and lovingly share the truth God has given us. True love is found in God and what He has shown us in His Word. May we pray for courage and boldness as we seek to oppose the lies of Satan, while at the same time offering the love of God to a lost and hurting world.
