Mornings with Maddie Day 7 – Focus on Christ
“Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.” (Hebrews 12:1-2, ESV)
What a great Scripture passage this is as it reminds us to continue to always look to Jesus. There are so many things that draw our attention away from Him—our work, school, relationships, hobbies, working out, and so on.
Satan is constantly trying to have us fall into the trap of being so busy that we lose sight of Jesus. Satan doesn’t need to attract us with wild idols, like we read of in the Old Testament; each of us makes our own idol out of anything that fills up our schedules and takes our time away from Christ.
May we stay focused on Jesus instead of constantly turning away to see what the world has to offer us. He is so worthy of our focus and is truly the One we should seek to serve and put first in our lives.
