Peace on Earth 8: Jesus, Our Peace

Peace on Earth Day 8 – Jesus, Our Peace

“I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33, ESV)

When I think of the nativity scene, my heart is warmed with gratitude. I envision the night sky bright with stars. My mind’s eye sees the donkey on which they rode lazily nibbling on hay in the stall. With the labor over, Mary and Joseph sit and stare at this baby Boy, a child that had come like no other ever had—born from a virgin and promised through angelic visits. Their eyes tenderly take in this Child, tiny and precious and so different. But what I appreciate most are the promises linked to this Child—salvation, hope and peace!

This Baby wasn’t touched by sin; He was holy and perfect. He was the Son of God in the form of a child, a mystery too wonderful to fully understand. And this is why only He was able to bring us the peace our souls needed.

What has been stealing your peace lately? Someone? Something? Illness? Financial strain? Whatever it is, there is an answer—Jesus!

It’s common to our nature to seek peace in all the wrong places, but those of us who have found it in Christ have found lasting peace. We have found something more valuable than any monetary treasure!

If you’re searching for peace and you don’t yet know Christ as Savior, you’ll never find it apart from Him. His birth, sinless life, death on the cross and resurrection provided peace for any who will simply come to Him. And for those of us who often forget the Source of our peace and look for it outside of Christ, may we remember that He is our Peace! Let us thank Him for coming into the world in such a humble way to make the provision we needed to experience true, lasting peace.
