Songs in the Night Day 7: Exploring Stories of God’s Mysterious Kindness
I will be glad and exult in you; I will sing praise to your name, O Most High. (Psalm 9:2, ESV)
The LORD is my strength and my shield; in him my heart trusts, and I am helped; my heart exults, and with my song I give thanks to him. (Psalm 28:7, ESV)
This week, Wendi has shared with us some beautiful songs in the night—songs that rose from the ashes of brokenness. There were broken dreams, broken hearts, fear and doubts, and yet in each one, God remained faithfully close, reaching in to rescue.
My own story includes many broken moments, yet in them God penned a story of redemption and hope. It’s what He does, and it’s what He’s been doing since the Garden of Eden. But the most touching songs we sing are songs of thanksgiving for the rescue we’ve experienced as we reflect on the cross of Christ.
While some may debate whether singing is truly worship, it surely directs our hearts toward our Savior. As we spend time today remembering how He has delivered us, we will lift up our own voices with others across the globe, giving praise and worship to our gracious heavenly Father. May this touch our Father’s heart and bring Him joy as we communicate our adoration.
What is the song of your heart today? There are so many songs we hear and sing, but none as precious as those that magnify the Father and lift up His name in praise. Our night seasons, in light of eternity, are but for a moment—joy comes in the morning. May He find us with hearts that sing of His great love for us and that love to share His gospel story with the lost and hurting.
