The Baggage We Carry Day 7 – Sunday Selah

“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” (Matthew 11:28-29, ESV)

This week, we have looked at some really heavy topics—sin and past hurt that can lie heavily on us and weigh us down. As we read the Scripture above, we feel hope. God invites us to bring our heavy burdens and allow Him to take them from us. What a relief!

If you’re feeling the weight of baggage upon your heart and mind today, may this invitation from Jesus Himself give you the courage to truly unburden yourself and allow Him to give you the relief you long for. As we gather today to remember Him, let us lay down our burdens and the baggage that impedes our worship, and simply give Him praise and honor for all He’s accomplished for us and for our freedom. He is so good and so worthy of our best, and until we become unshackled from the baggage of our past, we cannot worship Him as we should.
