The Importance of Investing Day 6: Weekly Thoughts
“Jesus said to him, ‘If you would be perfect, go, sell what you possess and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.’” (Matthew 19:21, ESV)
We’ve covered a lot of ground over the last few days and you might be tired of seeing the word “invest” at this point. But I hope that if you take one thing away from this study, it is understanding the value of building up your treasure in Heaven. We can invest in things here on earth that are worthwhile, yes, but nothing will ever be more valuable than our relationship with Christ and serving Him with what we’ve been given.
I love the verse from Matthew 19 that reminds us of how temporary our possessions are. I so easily get caught up in my life and the things I possess, and I forget how short our lives are here on earth. We might live 70-80 years (and that’s not guaranteed because we have no idea when we will die), but that is a drop in the bucket compared to eternity. I encourage you to keep this verse in mind and remember that our lives are “but a vapor” in comparison to eternity. Make your life count for God and you will never be disappointed!
