The Lies We Tell Day 7: Sunday Moments of Worship

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. (John 14:6, ESV)

He committed no sin, neither was deceit found in his mouth. (1 Peter 2:22, ESV)

As we’ve made our way through this study about lies we tell, we can appreciate that we serve a Savior who not only never lied but was incapable of lying. The spotless Lamb of God died on the cross for our sins because we were incapable of doing anything to save ourselves. Even in our sinful state, He loved us and was willing to lay down His life in our stead. As we start a new week, let’s seek to be more like Jesus—honest, trustworthy, and people of integrity.

Let’s enjoy the words of this hymn this morning:

’Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus,
Just to take Him at His Word;
Just to rest upon His promise,
And to know, “Thus saith the Lord!”

Jesus, Jesus, how I trust Him!
How I’ve proved Him o’er and o’er;
Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus!
Oh, for grace to trust Him more!

Oh, how sweet to trust in Jesus,
Just to trust His cleansing blood;
And in simple faith to plunge me
’Neath the healing, cleansing flood!

Yes, ’tis sweet to trust in Jesus,
Just from sin and self to cease;
Just from Jesus simply taking
Life and rest, and joy and peace.

I’m so glad I learned to trust Thee,
Precious Jesus, Savior, Friend;
And I know that Thou art with me,
Wilt be with me to the end.

(Louisa M.R. Stead, 1882)
