The Necessity of Forgiveness Day 11 – Sunday Selah
“So if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there before the altar and go. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift.” (Matthew 5:23-24, ESV)
Is there someone with whom you have an outstanding issue that has resulted in difficulties in your relationship, particularly someone who will worship with you today as you meet with your church family? The Scriptures above give us a clear picture of what God requires.
Whatever it is, may today be the day you find yourself being obedient to the truth of these words from Matthew chapter 5. Before you are able to worship effectively and wholly, you must first be reconciled to your brother or sister. That’s the long and short of it.
Today is a new day, with His help at our ready for doing difficult tasks. Let us recite these words as we seek to obey in this:
“If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all.” (Romans 12:18, ESV)
