Walking a Disciple’s Walk Week 1 Day 6: First Week in Review

Day 6 – First Week in Review

This week, we have taken time to evaluate the steps we should take as we devote our lives to following our Risen King, the Lord Jesus Christ. We have considered, specifically, the lies that get in our way, evidence of the acceptance of those lies in our attitudes and choices, scriptural truths that confront those lies, and the eternal significance of walking in step with the Lord as we embrace truth and leave the lies behind us.

Let us briefly review some of these “lie vs. truth battles” here before we move forward into a couple of additional ones next week.

1: Walk in Truth – Our Confession of Faith

The Lie: “I love Jesus, but what I believe doesn’t really matter.”

The Truth: If we truly loved Him, our confession of faith would be vitally important.

    Relevant Scriptures: Psalm 86:11; 1 Timothy 4:6-11,16; Colossians 3:16; Psalm 25:4-5; John 14:6,15-21; John 17:17

    Hymn: Lord, Thy Word Abideth

2: Walk in a Worthy Manner – Our Conduct

The Lie: “I love Jesus, but what I do doesn’t really matter.”

The Truth: If we truly loved Him, our conduct would be vitally important.

    Relevant Scriptures: Colossians 1:9-10; 1 John 2:3-6; 2 Peter 1:3-8; Romans 6:13; Romans 12:1-2; John 14:21

Hymn: Master, Speak Thy Servant Heareth

3: Walk in Wisdom – Our Conversation

The Lie: “I love Jesus, but what I say doesn’t really matter.”

The Truth: If we truly loved Him, our conversation would be vitally important.

    Relevant Scriptures: Colossians 4:5-6; Ephesians 4:29; Matthew 12:34- 37; James 1:26; James 3:5-6,8; 1 Peter 3:10

    Hymn: Fill Thou My Life
