Welcoming 2022 – 7: Sunday Selah

Welcoming 2022 Day 7: Sunday Selah

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you, who by God’s power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. (1 Peter 1:3-5)

But this I call to mind,

and therefore I have hope:

The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases;
his mercies never come to an end;
they are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness.
“The Lord is my portion,” says my soul,
“Therefore I will hope in him.”

(Lamentations 3:21-24, ESV)

To close out our study this week, I want to end with the reminder that while we strive to live a godly, Christ-like life, we fail to some degree every day. Thankfully, God is always the same and grants us new morning mercies day after day. These verses have been impressed upon my heart, and I encourage you to read them a few times and perhaps even memorize them as we continue our walk through 2022. Lamentations reminds us of the hope we have and 1 Peter reminds us of Who that hope is in. Our Savior, who died for us and is alive forevermore, grants us the privilege of living forever with Him! This same Savior reminds us that every morning is a fresh start and a new chance to live for Him. He is our everlasting hope: “The Lord is my portion…therefore, I will hope in him.”
